Pricing

Websites vary so much in complexity and functionality that it is very difficult to give general prices without understanding the need.  It's kind of like saying "how much is a car" without saying if it is a used station wagon or a new luxury vehicle.

I prefer to discuss the website design and needs, understand the amount of work involved, and then develop a customized and realistic quotation.  Further, I quote based on the amount of hours of my time, not on the feature.  What this means is that you are paying a fair price that is based on my time to develop, not on my experience.  In other words, if I am able to implement a high-tech feature for you in a short amount of time, you pay for that short time only.

Simply put:
  • Per hour*  :  $40  :  Charged to the 1/2 hour

*New websites get 3 free hours during the first 6 months after initial website setup.  Why?   Because no one knows exactly what they want from the beginning - there will be tweaks within the first couple of months.

Now, the Per Hour charge may not mean a whole lot by itself.  So let me try to explain it with typical costs for commonly requested features.
  • Standard Web Page (~2 hours)  :  $80  :  web page that shows text and pictures (html)

  • "Contact Me" Form Page (~2 hours)  :  $80  :  web page that provides a way for users to email you

  • Site Architecture (~6 hours)  :  $240  :  menu design, color format, font size/type, overall arrangement

  • Simple Logo Design (~8 hours)  :  $320  :  logo to place on web pages as a banner or title

If you still have questions about pricing, the best thing to do is to contact me.  Ask me what questions you have and let's discuss what your needs are.  I provide all my quotes and initial discussions for free.

A note about "discussing your website needs" versus "free advice":

Discussing website needs, design, and pricing is initially free.  However, if the discussion turns into free website advice and/or technical support and I am not developing your website, my hourly rate applies.
